Into The Woods

29 July – 7 August 2011
Esplanade Theatre

Once Upon A Time, there lived a Baker and his Wife, who wished for a child, Jack wished to keep his pet cow, Cinderella wished to go to the King’s Festival, and Little Red Riding Hood was on her way to Grandmother’s house… ‘Into The Woods’ is a funny, moving and visually stunning story of fairy tale characters discovering that true happiness is hard to find. Is ‘Happy Ever After’ the end or is it just the beginning? As the characters journey in the woods driven by their deepest desires, they cheat, sabotage and charm one another to get ahead. But when life deals out hard lessons, they find comfort in friendship, even forming an alliance against a common enemy. ‘Into the Woods’ is an award-winning Broadway musical about growing up, parent-child relationships, marriage, morality and community. Profound in its simplicity and full of exciting, unexpected twists, it is a magical musical treat that will enchant the child and move the adult.

– Company Struck A Raw Nerve, Cosmopolitan

– Company, Buttons in the Bread

“We do not say this often; if you could only watch one production this year, let it be ‘Company'”
– [Review], Poached Mag

“rest assured that the Sondheim’s work of art is not put to shame”
